Q: Why Qigong?

A: Qigong exercises can help you to clear energy blocks, access your mind’s true power, and prevent illness. It works on your internal Qi (energy) and targets the cause of your energy imbalances, which could emerge as physical disease or mental anxiety, stress or depression. The most powerful source of healing is your own Qi energy. Learn how to harness this energy to assist in overcoming health challenges through Qigong, one of the most ancient and scientifically proven methods for taking control of your own wellbeing.

Q: How can I learn Qigong in one day?

 

A: Considering many of you haven't engaged in intensive or serious Qigong, this conference intends to introduce some simple forms, as well as more advanced styles to those of you who have more experience and want to step up to the next level. The emphasis for the advanced practitioners will be on the breath work.

The three entry level forms that you will be learning are Eight Pieces of Brocade, Five Animals Frolic and Ma Wang Dui. We only select a portion of those forms to give you a jump start. We offer many resources such as local classes, movement videos, online learning, etc. for you to progress at your own pace. Each of you will get a complementary music CD for practicing at home.

Q: What will you cover in the morning meditation session(s)?

 

A: Mei Jin Lu will Explain different kinds of meditation techniques and their practical usage. Discuss the efficiencies on any chosen technique for your own purpose at any given time. For example, relaxation meditation method is completely different than the approaches of contemplation or transcendental meditation. You will experience it in the session.

During the guided meditative session, you will be led to a special subconscious level for a deep clearing of energy work. As many of you already know, this is the end of a 12-year zodiac cycle. It is a critical time to release, to cleanse all unwanted, unlucky energies of previous 12 years so we can embrace the brand-new fresh energy beginning January 25th, 2020.

Q: What is Huang Di Nei Jing?

 

A: Huang Di Nei Jing《黄帝内经》- also called Yellow Emperor’s Inner Canon, is the earliest and most important medical text of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It was compiled over 2,200 years ago during the Warring States period of China (475-221 BC). In his talk, Dr. McCann will interpret some of the secrets of health and longevity formulas from this ancient medical bible and explain how ancient Chinese medicine can help us in daily life to prevent illness and live healthier. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. McCann is an experienced teacher and is a core faculty member for the doctoral degree program at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, where he teaches clinical case study writing, geriatric medicine, and Tung's acupuncture. 

Q: What is “Food as Medicine”?

 

A: Dr. Hsu will address the medical aspect of food and nutrition. He was formerly the VP of International Programs and Medical Director of the Asian Clinic at Joslin Diabetes Center, a teaching and research affiliate of Harvard Medical School. He also taught in Harvard medical school and had years of experience in the treatment of diabetes. He is now the Chief Medical Officer of L-Nutra. There is an epidemic in diseases like heart disease, diabetes and cancer and others. Although age and lifestyle are important factors, the latest scientific studies reveal that occasional fasting and proper nutrition are critical to the prevention and management of human health. Dr. Hsu will elaborate on the important science that explains the impact of the various fasting and dietary regimens that can prolong human lifespan.
